Santa Barbara, CA Top 5
5. Rori’s Artisanal Creamery
Location: Public Market, 38 W Victoria St #103, Santa Barbara, CA 93101
Rori’s Artisanal Creamery was delicious! There were so many flavors and toppings to choose from. If ice cream isn’t your thing they also had brownies and cake to still satisfy that sweet tooth. This location of Rori’s was within Public Market, which has areas to eat both inside and outside.

4. Chaucer’s Books
Location: Loreto Plaza, 3321 State St, Santa Barbara, CA 93105
If you know me, you know I’m a book worm. I had seen Chaucer’s Books called out on a couple lists of things to see in Santa Barbara. Naturally, I had to stop there. It was a great local bookstore with stacks on stacks of books. The last thing I need are more books to read, but I really wanted to support this local bookstore so I bought Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer and The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware. I haven’t read them yet, no spoilers! I also took one of their promo bookmarks with their cute black cat mascot. A nice memento for my travel journal.

3. Santa Barbara Botanic Garden
Location: 1212 Mission Canyon Rd, Santa Barbara, CA 93105
The Santa Barbara Botanic Garden is on this list because it was a serene place to walk around. When we went (right before it closed for the day) there was hardly anyone there, which added to the calm, tranquil feeling. Everywhere you looked was filled with towering trees and beautiful flowers. I really wish we had spent more time here and I had brought a sketchbook.

2. Moreton Bay Fig Tree
Location: Chapala St & Montecito Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101
This fig tree… I rolled my eyes at the idea of a single fig tree being on Santa Barbara’s must see list. I love trees and being in nature, but for some reason I didn’t think a single fig tree was going to be impressive. I was so wrong. It blew my mind how large this fig tree was. The trunk was so thick, the branches weighed so much they were just about touching the ground, and the leaves were gigantic! It was one of the coolest trees I’ve ever seen.
On the corner of… Thickest trunk I’ve ever seen on a fig tree The boughs almost touch the ground!
1. Arroyo Burro Beach County Park
Location: 2981 Cliff Dr, Santa Barbara, CA 93109
Arroyo Burro Beach County Park was my favorite part of this trip. I could have spent all day, everyday at this beach. It was misty and gorgeous in the morning. The mist would slowly burn off and turn into a clear day of perfect beach weather by the afternoon. It was also a bonus that Boathouse at Hendry’s Beach was a delicious restaurant right there on the beach. You could work up an appetite hunting sea glass and not have far to go for a tasty lunch.
Misty mornings Most peaceful beach out there Taking it easy
That’s the list of my favorite sites in Santa Barbara. Do you have a favorite spot in Santa Barbara? If so, I’d love to hear about it in the comments below!
Happy travels,
Laura
