RAMBLE: ROAD TRIP PODCAST RECOMMENDATIONS

Podcasts – The New Hotness

Road trips will always be a classic form of travel taking us far and wide at a lower cost than planes and trains. While road trips will always be there, listening to music won’t. Within the past few years podcasts have really taken off! I feel like everyone and their mom creates their own podcast. Why are they so popular? I think it’s because the Millennials who don’t listen to the radio anymore and just listen to their same stale music from 15-25 years ago need something fresh. Enter – The Podcast.

Podcasts are great on a road trip if say the person you are traveling with loves indie Canadian alternative bands from the early 2000s and you prefer hip hop instead. Yes… that does seem like a very specific example 😒 … A podcast could be some common ground. Lately I’ve really been into creepy stories and educational podcasts (bear with me they aren’t as boring as they sound).

Creepy Stories

Radio Rental podcast

Radio Rental: If being creeped out is your jam then give Radio Rental a try. The host of this podcast is your favorite Dunder Mifflin salesman – Dwight K. Schrute. Well, it’s Rainn Wilson playing yet another weirdo named Terry Carnation.

Educational (but also entertaining)

99% invisible podcast

99% Invisible: This podcast is all about highlighting design that we don’t even notice. They take a design topic spanning from architecture to book covers and dig into the history, controversy, and current trend.

Popular Science's Weirdest Thing I Learned THis Week podcast

The Weirdest Thing I Learned This Week: You never have any idea what random facts you will learn about on this podcast. There are always three topics that rarely have any connection. If you love random science facts, listen to this one.

Stuff You Should Know podcast

Stuff You Should Know: Two hosts research things that interest them from events to actual things, like peanut butter. Then they come together and share with you what they learned. I learned things from their peanut butter episode that I can’t unlearn. For example, did you know a peanut butter and mayonnaise sandwich was a thing? I sure wish I didn’t.

I’m not affiliated with any of these podcasts. I genuinely enjoy them and think others will to. If you have any podcast recommendations for me I’d love to read them in the comments below!

Happy travels,

Laura
