I love traveling, but for most people (myself included) you can’t be on the road indefinitely. When I can’t physically travel I turn to books, TV shows, and movies to get lost in and explore. When I was little and learning the difference between metaphors and similes, this particular example of a metaphor always stuck with me:
A book is a cheap vacation.

This still rings true to me. There are so many fictional worlds I love to visit.
This is the first entry in my Creative Travelogue series, where I take a fictional book, tv show, or movie that is near and dear to me and find ways to express my appreciation through creative projects. I hope to inspire you to create your own artwork and crafts for your favorite fictional worlds!
With the end of July comes Harry Potter’s birthday on the 31st. This made Harry Potter inspired crafts and artwork the perfect theme for my first Creative Travelogue.

One piece I created was a crocheted Hufflepuff scarf for my cat, Eowyn. We did a photo shoot for Harry’s birthday last year. It was fun crocheting this scarf as well as taking silly Buzzfeed quizzes to determine she was in Hufflepuff. Just look at that face, clearly she really enjoyed herself… *eyeroll*

My last piece was creating a watercolor of the Hufflepuff crest. Yes, I am in Hufflepuff and proud of it 😛
Happy travels and stay creative,
Laura
